Community Wellness Programs
Royally Fit advocates being fit in every aspect of wellness and facilitates education, access and resources. People need to be mentally, physically and emotionally healthy in order to live their most balanced lives. Royally Fit achieves this through education, access, coaching and connections specifically targeting historically and disproportionately disadvantaged communities.

Spearheaded by Royally Fit Founder, Domenique Watkins-Wise, Sr, our physical wellness initiative is comprised of “Workout Wednesdays”, “Fit Family Friday” challenges and our “Strong Squad Saturday” activities.
Taking over local parks and recreation centers, Royally Fit facilitates fun, family-friendly ways to get up and active at various times through the week, truly encouraging everyone to take part.

The goal of our Nutritional Wellness Program is to provide equitable access of healthy and delicious tasting vegetables in neighborhoods that face food insecurity while removing as many barriers as possible. Additionally, we create opportunities for community members to learn about the nutritional values and taste a variety of new foods, encouraging healthier choices.

According to the Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, Black adults in the U.S. are more likely than white adults to report persistent symptoms of emotional distress, such as sadness, hopelessness and feeling like everything is an effort. Black adults living below the poverty line are more than twice as likely to report serious psychological distress than those with more financial security.
Despite the needs, only one in three Black adults who need mental health care receive it. According to the American Psychiatric Association’s Mental Health Facts for African Americans guide, they are also:
*Less likely to receive guideline-consistent care.
*Less frequently included in research
*More likely to use emergency rooms or primary care (rather than mental health specialists)
Royally Fit seeks to change these inequities by providing mental wellness support through hosting regular events, skill building workshops and connections with mental health professionals.
